Winding mountain road with multiple sharp turns, surrounded by rocky cliffs and green vegetation.

Helping you move better, recover stronger, and get back to the life you want.

Dr. Luc Rubinger is a dual fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee reconstruction in Toronto and Durham Region. He uses the most advanced techniques available — including robotic surgery and kinematic alignment — to give each patient a result that's as natural as possible.

A different kind of orthopaedic surgeon.

Dr. Rubinger trained at some of Canada’s leading academic hospitals, including Mount Sinai, Sunnybrook, and St. Michael’s, before joining Lakeridge Health as a staff surgeon. Known for combining technical precision with an approachable, patient-first style, he brings a modern perspective to hip and knee reconstruction. Outside the clinic, family comes first — and when he’s not with them, you’ll likely find him on a bike.

Hip Replacement, the Anterior Way

The direct anterior approach reaches the hip joint between the muscles, rather than cutting through them. A less disruptive path means smoother recovery, earlier movement, and a return to daily life with fewer restrictions.

Knee Replacement Done Differently

Dr. Rubinger has refined his own method of kinematic alignment, a modern knee replacement philosophy that respects each patient’s natural joint geometry. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all model, his approach is designed to help patients move more naturally and recover with greater confidence.

Robotic Precision, Human Judgment

Dr. Rubinger performs robotic-assisted joint replacement using the ROSA and MAKO systems, while relying on surgical judgment to guide every decision. His approach combines advanced technology with personalized care, ensuring the robot supports the surgeon — not the other way around.
